James Remington is a man and doctor who never stays in one place long enough to put down roots, that is until he discovers Skye, an Outback town that could make him think of staying. Helen Franklin knows that James is temporary and looking at him she knows he is exactly like her wandering father, always looking for a new challenge and a new town. But that doesn’t stop her from being attracted to the new doctor, or from realizing that he will leave her at the end of his contract. But does she have something to offer James? And will James finally find the woman and life he has been searching for?
The Outback Doctor’s Surprise Bride by Amy Andrews is a truly romantic tale of James and Helen overcoming their fears to find the happiness they deserve. I loved these characters; they were determined to be strong in the face of loss and when dealing with their emotions. I really felt for Helen because she realized that nothing good could come of her attraction to James, especially seeing as he wasn’t going to be around for long. And I also felt for James because he had finally found the woman that could make him want to put down roots and stay. This book intrigued me from beginning to end and I thoroughly enjoyed every bit, from the characters that filled the pages to the plot and I especially loved the ending. Ms. Andrews is one of my favorite authors; I always enjoy reading her books and this one is no different. A fantastic book about finding beauty in a desolate environment.
